Possession of a Controlled Substance

Description:

On August 20, 2023, at 0158 hours NCPD was monitoring traffic in the 2700 block of Bigler Avenue where a Black Chevrolet Cruze traveling South at a high rate of speed while approaching an intersection and nearing a traffic signal was observed traveling at a rate of speed to where it was in complete disregard to public safety. A traffic stop was subsequently initiated when it was confirmed that there were 5 juvenile passengers in the rear of the vehicle. Upon approaching the vehicle the odor of Marijuana was smelled coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as a minor from Latrobe, PA. A consent to search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in finding a large amount of Marijuana, an unopened 1.5L bottle of wine, and what appeared to be illicit mushrooms utilized for their hallucinogen effects. All the minors were released to their parents, and subsequently, charges were filed appropriately.
